Vermont Rail Systems - Operations

The Vermont Rail Systems is the parent company for a large network of shortlines in well...now, the Northeast. It all started in Vermont, but now the company has grown to include trackage in Northern New York State as well. Their slogan, "Serving New England with Pride", has given new meaning to railroading in the Green Mountain State for this 200+ mile regional. Their operations include the following:

FOR THE BUFFIES:

GMRC #263 goes on duty at 07:00 in Rutland, and is usually heading east by 08:30 with his train for Riverside Yard, just west of Bellows Falls (old Steamtown site). The job usually rates 3-4 four axle units, and don't be surprised to see 40-50 cars on this train. Personally, it's THE premier chase train for the Vermont Rail System.
