Green Mountain GP9r #804 sits at the railroad's Burlington shops awaiting some heavy repair on 9/9/03.
Green Mountain train #263 starts it's meandering through the foresty gulf, seen here at Cavendish, VT on 9/10/03. Lots of heavy OMYA traffic onboard the headend of this train.
CLP GP38 #204 leads the eastbound road train near Gassetts, VT on 9/10/03.
On 9/10/03, CLP GP38 #203 switches a draft of cars at the old Steamtown grounds, now VRS' Riverside Yard on 9/10/03.
Already starting out with a tough pull, we beat the train to the Curtis Avenue grade crossing by a few seconds. Today's train consists of approximately 45 cars, mostly slurry loads for points north & east.
On September 14, 2004, GMRC train 263 crosses the high bridge just east of Cuttingsville. It will soon begin it's ascent of Mount Holly.
Again, chasing them through the small villages of south-central Vermont, we beat the 263 to East Wallingford...
...and around the bend where he crosses over VT Route 155 on another neat trestle.
Making a run for all he's worth, Engineman Bill Feindel throttles out approaching Mount Holly, VT.
Still working hard, nearing the summit of Mount Holly, VTR #307 leads a colorful consist through the lush Green Mountains.
They've made it!! Another successful climb "over the big hill" in central Vermont, train 263 is passing through the small locale of Summit, VT.
My final shot before heading back home (to get my oil changed), here VTR #307 is seen crawling the downside of the mountain into Ludlow, seen at the Okemo Ridge Road overpass.
